What Makes a Face Cream Different?

It would be easy to take a rich body moisturizer, put it into a smaller jar and call it face cream.

That is not what we wanted to do.

For BennyBee Face Cream, the goal is a cream that spreads easily, feels lighter on the skin and absorbs comfortably while still providing meaningful moisture.

That meant building a different balance from our Body Cream.

A lighter approach to oils and butters

Shea butter is one of our favorite ingredients, but more is not automatically better.

In Body Cream, richness is part of the experience. On the face, we wanted a lighter balance.

Apricot kernel oil therefore plays an important role. It provides emollience and slip while helping us create the lighter skin feel we are looking for.

Shea butter is still there, but as part of the balance rather than dominating it.

Two botanicals, one infused oil

For the Face Cream, we take the infusion idea further.

Calendula and chamomile are infused into apricot kernel oil, creating the botanical oil at the center of the formula.

Both botanicals have long histories of use in traditional skin preparations, which is part of what made them interesting to us.

Rather than adding them simply because their names look attractive on a label, we incorporate them through the infused oil that becomes part of the finished cream.

Why Manuka honey?

Manuka honey gives the Face Cream another identity of its own.

Produced from nectar associated with the manuka plant, Manuka honey is known for its distinctive chemistry, including methylglyoxal, commonly discussed as MGO.

In our formula, we are interested in honey as both a distinctive botanical-derived ingredient and a naturally water-loving material that contributes humectant character.

It is one of the ingredients that separates our Face Cream from our Body Cream.

Moisture without making the formula unnecessarily heavy

The challenge with face cream is not simply making something moisturizing.

It is getting the balance right.

Water provides the foundation. Glycerin and honey contribute humectant character. Apricot kernel oil and shea butter provide emollience. The emulsifying system brings the water and oils together into a stable cream.

Each ingredient has a job.

The goal is a cream that spreads easily and leaves skin feeling moisturized without turning everyday face care into a layer of heavy butter.

Not Body Cream in a smaller jar

That is ultimately the difference.

BennyBee Body Cream is intentionally richer and built around calendula-infused apricot kernel oil and shea butter.

BennyBee Face Cream is being designed around a lighter balance, with calendula-and-chamomile-infused apricot kernel oil and Manuka honey giving it its own ingredient story.

Same philosophy. Different formula. Different job.
